In a statement released on Friday night, Sankara rejected the accusations as unfounded and aimed at damaging his reputation. The controversy arose after reports suggested he was involved with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu. These claims intensified following a complaint from Nabegu’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, to the Kano State Hisbah Board, alleging an affair.

Alhaji Abba Saidu Sufi, Director-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, confirmed Sankara’s arrest, stating it was part of an investigation into the allegations. “Yes, I can confirm that Sankara was arrested at a hidden location along Lamido Crescent Road. He is currently at Kurmawa prison. It’s an unfortunate incident,” Sufi noted.

In response, Sankara said, “I have been made aware of recent media reports alleging that I, Auwal D. Sankara, have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command for having an affair with a married woman. I categorically state that these allegations are completely false, baseless, and malicious, intended to tarnish my reputation. I urge the public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity.

“As a married man, I hold the institution of marriage in high regard and would never engage in actions that compromise its sanctity. I remain committed to the values and principles I uphold. I take this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those spreading this false information and attempting to harm my reputation.
