A five-member committee has been established to address the concerns affecting Lobi Stars, the state-owned football club. The committee formation followed a meeting convened at the state house in Makurdi on Wednesday, August 23.

During the meeting, the Benue state governor, Alia, disclosed that the committee would include Hyacinth Dajoh, the speaker of the state house of assembly, as the committee’s chairman.

Other members would be Uwua, Akosu, the state’s director of sports, and the permanent secretary of the ministry of sports.

Governor Alia responded to the concerns of Benue football stakeholders who had expressed worry about Lobi Stars’ declining performance and had called for urgent measures to be taken.

These stakeholders had also advocated for the establishment of a board to oversee the efficient management and operations of the club.

Governor Alia acknowledged the club’s situation and emphasized the need for immediate resolution. He stated, “Lobi is broken and I’m here to fix it.

You are part of the pride of the state and I want that pride to stay. You are the legacy and jewel of the state and must be held high.”

He recognized the club’s past successes but noted that internal issues might be affecting their performance. The governor announced the formation of a five-person committee to address the concerns he had for Lobi Stars. He anticipated receiving the committee’s report by Monday, August 28.

The governor pledged his commitment to assisting the club and concluded, “By Monday, August 28 at 4 p.m., we will assemble here again to round off this conversation.

But in the interim, I’m setting up a five-man committee to address the concerns I have for Lobi and bring the report to me on Monday.”
