While receiving the report on behalf of the governor, Emu highlighted that pursuing careers in the military, police, customs, and other paramilitary services aligns with the government’s job and wealth creation initiatives. He stressed the importance of ongoing awareness and sensitization campaigns regarding military and paramilitary recruitment and degree programs at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

“This report is crucial. I commend the Chairman and members for their dedication and contributions. I will present this report to His Excellency, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, for his attention and necessary action,” Emu stated.

He expressed confidence that implementation of the report would begin soon, emphasizing the need to effectively utilize the available slots in future military and paramilitary recruitments. “In the last Army recruitment, we performed well as a state, with 137 qualified Delta youths recruited, compared to 80 in 2023. This improvement was due to a comprehensive media awareness campaign by the State Orientation and Communications Bureau. We will continue to promote media advocacy and other publicity strategies.”

Dr. Emu also noted that careers in the military and paramilitary sectors complement the job and wealth creation programs outlined in the governor’s MORE agenda.

The committee’s Chairman and Commissioner for Youth Development, ThankGod Harry, presented the report, affirming that the committee adhered closely to its terms of reference and that the government’s objectives would be achieved through the strict implementation of the recommendations.
