A former Mayor of Blanco, Texas, Mike Arnold, has criticised the inclusion of former presidential aide Reno Omokri in President Bola Tinubu’s newly released ambassadorial nominees.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

President Tinubu had forwarded a list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation on Saturday.

Reacting in a Facebook post, Arnold—who has repeatedly accused Omokri of downplaying acts of persecution in Nigeria—said Omokri had no business being on the list. He also faulted the appointment of former Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.

Arnold accused President Tinubu of favouring loyalty over merit, insisting the appointments reflect poorly on the administration and the nation.

He argued that the selections send a damaging message to young Nigerians about the values required for success in the country.

He wrote:
“With his newly announced ambassadorial appointments, Tinubu has again shown himself to be not just tone-deaf, but deaf, dumb, and blind. The world is watching. By appointing Omokri and FFK, he makes it clear that he prefers money-grabbing, bootlicking, genocide-denying sycophants who can flip positions on command, rather than individuals with even a shred of competence or integrity.

“He is once again proving to be a corrupt dictator who has little regard for national unity or the everyday Nigerian.

“Worse still, what message does this shameful reward system send to Nigerian children? It teaches them that to succeed in today’s Nigeria, you must first sell your soul and abandon any form of honour. It is truly disgraceful.

“If anyone still doubted that Nigeria has become a disgraced, corrupt nation, today’s appointments remove any uncertainty.”
