Countdown Begins: Airport Police Reveal Line-Up For 2026 National Police Day

The Airport Police Command has announced plans to pay tribute to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty as part of the activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” the event is aimed at strengthening the bond between the police and the public, especially within the aviation sector.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Adeola, revealed this in a statement shared on Friday, noting that the celebration will promote trust, cooperation, and stronger engagement between officers and the public.

A series of events has been scheduled for the week-long celebration, beginning on Monday, March 30, with a sanitation and environmental clean-up exercise.

This will be followed on Tuesday, March 31, by a walkathon designed to encourage fitness and foster unity among officers and residents.

On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will carry out public sensitisation campaigns, engaging drivers and key stakeholders within the airport environment on safety and security awareness.

A key highlight will take place on Thursday, April 2, when the Command will honour families of fallen officers, with cheques presented in recognition of their sacrifice in the line of duty.

The celebration will culminate in a grand finale scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, at Eagle Square, Abuja. The event will feature a ceremonial parade, tactical demonstrations, and displays highlighting the operational strength and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.

Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, said the occasion provides an opportunity to remember fallen heroes while motivating serving officers.

She emphasised that strong public engagement remains essential to effective policing, adding that the programme is designed to deepen trust and partnership between the Command and the communities it serves.

According to the Command, all planned activities align with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at enhancing community policing and boosting public confidence in the Force.

Reaffirming the Command’s readiness, Ogunbode stated that the celebration would reflect their commitment to service, honour fallen officers, and reinforce the values of trust and professionalism in policing.
