Despite challenging terrains, transportation arrangements, both land and maritime, have been implemented to ensure the timely commencement of voting.
Yakubu urged INEC officials to exhibit patriotism and professionalism, emphasizing that the Commission is impartial and holds no allegiance to any political party or candidate.
Notably, these elections mark the first time in Nigeria’s history that such concurrent elections are conducted on the same day across three geopolitical zones.
The statement underscored INEC’s commitment to safeguarding the electoral process, ensuring fairness for all political parties and candidates.
It highlighted the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for voter verification and biometric authentication, with results to be uploaded to the INC Result Viewing (IRe) portal. All election-duty officials have undergone training.
To enhance the process, two National Commissioners, nine Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), and Administrative Secretaries (ASs) have been deployed to each state, distributed across senatorial zones.
Yakubu reiterated that election responsibility is a multi-stakeholder effort, emphasizing that lessons from past elections have informed their approach.
Assurances from security agencies regarding a secure environment for all participants, including voters, electoral officials, observers, the media, and polling agents, have been received by INEC.
The statement concluded by reaffirming INEC’s dedication to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, acknowledging the collaborative effort required for success.
