According to the allegations, Jeremiah and Williams allegedly stole the diesel from Fejiro Joel, the owner of an ice-making factory. The incident came to light when the factory manager reported that the purchased diesel, intended for the company’s generator, was entrusted to Jeremiah but disappeared after a brief period of use.

Upon investigation, security footage purportedly showed Jeremiah collaborating with Williams to carry out the theft. Jeremiah admitted to the crime during police questioning, implicating Williams, who served as the company’s driver. Both defendants were subsequently arrested and interrogated by the Lagos State Police Command.

During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Haruna Magaji detailed that the alleged crime occurred on May 10, 2024, at Funsho Street, Onike, Lagos. He cited violations of Sections 411 and 280(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and presented CCTV evidence and witness statements supporting the charges.

The defendants entered pleas of not guilty. Magistrate Adefope ordered their remand pending further hearings, scheduling the next court date for June 21, 2024.
