Court Sh*ckwave: Mr P Reveals Mammoth 800k Shares Held By Jude Okoye’s Wife
The legal showdown involving Jude Chigozie Okoye, elder brother and former manager of the P-Square duo, resumed on Friday at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, with a key prosecution witness confirming a major detail about the ownership structure of the company at the centre of the alleged fraud.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Testifying before the court, Peter Okoye (popularly known as Mr. P), identified as the first prosecution witness, stated that the defendant’s wife holds a significant number of shares in Northside Music Limited—the company through which over a million dollars in royalties were allegedly siphoned.
Jude Okoye and Northside Music Limited are facing a four-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over claims of diverting more than $1 million belonging to the music group.
During cross-examination by defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), Peter Okoye maintained that the accounts in question were jointly owned by him and his twin brother, Paul.
“These statements of account belong to me and my brother. We are P-Square. The company belongs to Peter and Paul. It was registered by him. I went to the EFCC when I discovered funds were being diverted, and the EFCC brought the matter to court,” he said.
A critical moment in the hearing came when Peter confirmed that Jude’s wife owns 800,000 shares in Northside Music Limited—corroborating earlier claims that the company was structured in a way that enabled alleged diversion of the group’s earnings.
The defence attempted to tender documents purportedly attached to the original petition submitted to the EFCC, arguing that they were important to their case. But prosecution counsel, M.K. Bashir, objected, saying the documents were merely copies marked as Certified True Copies (CTCs) and were neither filed with the initial petition nor submitted in a legally admissible format.
Justice Rahman Oshodi upheld the objection, ruling that despite being sourced from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and kept in EFCC custody, the documents did not meet admissibility standards.
Peter also confirmed that he made a formal statement to the EFCC after his lawyer submitted the petition.
The case was adjourned to February 20 and 27, 2026, for continuation of trial.
