Goodluck Ihemnacho, who served as the administrator of Ahoada East LGA, tendered his resignation in a letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed it to the Sole Administrator.
In the letter, Ihemnacho cited his intention to return to the private sector as the reason for his resignation.
“I respectfully submit my resignation as Administrator of Ahoada East LGA,” the letter read in part. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Rivers State Government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve from April 11, 2025, to July 20, 2025.”
However, The Punch reports that Ihemnacho’s resignation may be linked to his ambition to run in the upcoming local government elections in the state.
In a separate development, the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO-USA) has written to former U.S. President Donald Trump, urging a visa ban on Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Vice Admiral Ibas (retd.).
The appeal, contained in a letter signed by NADECO-USA’s Executive Director, Lloyd Ukwu, emphasized the group’s call for accountability in defense of Nigeria’s democratic values.
“The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO USA) seeks your attention on a serious matter concerning the decline of democratic governance in Nigeria,” the letter stated.
