Cross-Dressing Man Dies After Three Years Of Concealing Eyeliner Tube In Rectum

A Japanese man passed away from kidney failure three years after inserting a stick of eyeliner into his rectum for sexual stimulation.

The patient, who was in his 60s and a cross-dresser, was found unconscious at home by his brother and rushed to the hospital. A CT scan revealed a 3.5-inch eyeliner tube near his rectum, which doctors suspect he had used for sexual pleasure.

Due to his unstable condition, the patient was deemed too high-risk for surgery and died two days after being admitted. An autopsy revealed that the eyeliner had penetrated his bladder and caused an egg-sized mass to form.

Doctors determined that sepsis, a severe reaction to an infection, was the cause of death. The patient had experienced intermittent abdominal pain over the past three years and had recently complained of anorexia and diarrhea.

His medical history was sparse due to infrequent check-ups. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was unconscious with a high heart rate, low blood pressure, and a fever of 100°F (38°C). Despite receiving antibiotics and norepinephrine, his condition worsened, and he died after unsuccessful attempts to revive him.

Following his death, a police investigation revealed his cross-dressing habits and the presence of a vibrator in his room. The autopsy also showed small wounds on his buttocks and an ulcer in his perineum. The eyeliner had been embedded in a bladder stone, which likely resulted from damage caused by the foreign object. This injury led to a rectovesical fistula, where the rectum, lower colon, and bladder became fused, complicating urination and causing the bladder to fill with urine.

Doctors noted that bacteria from the long-embedded eyeliner might have contributed to the infection, leading to sepsis. This case is reported as an extremely rare instance of complications from a foreign body retained in the rectum over several years. The doctors emphasized that sexual activity involving foreign objects should be considered a potential risk factor for such severe outcomes, even years after the initial incident.
