During his visit to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and other traditional leaders, alongside representatives from the police, Nigerian Army, Correctional Centre, Defence Intelligence Agency, and Federal Road Safety Corps, Ojo highlighted the critical role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and security within their communities.

In a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Hammed Oloyede, Ojo expressed gratitude for the support of traditional rulers in combating economic sabotage by criminals. He emphasized the need to leverage traditional institutions’ influence and knowledge to strengthen border security and suppress smuggling activities effectively.

Oba Gbadebo commended the efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service and assured continued support from himself and other traditional rulers to enhance national security and maintain order.

During engagements with security agencies, Ojo stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration and information sharing to address challenges posed by smuggling and other transnational crimes. He emphasized that by pooling intelligence, resources, and expertise, the Customs Service and its partners can form a unified front against threats to Nigeria’s economic stability and security.

The heads of the security agencies present reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Customs Service in combating smuggling and securing Nigeria’s borders with Benin Republic.

Ojo reiterated the Ogun I Area Command’s dedication to these principles, highlighting their role in fostering a secure and prosperous environment for the people of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
