Dangote Breaks Silence: Scathing Two-Year Performance Review Delivered To Tinubu

In an open letter titled “Appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR”—shared on by Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga—Dangote commended the president’s contributions to the development of Eko Atlantic City and the launch of nationwide superhighway initiatives.

Referencing the Bar Beach Land Reclamation Project, Dangote highlighted how residents of Victoria Island have benefited significantly from Tinubu’s efforts to curb coastal erosion.

“This achievement is among your many legacies, and those of us residing in Victoria Island are truly better off because of it,” Dangote wrote.

He pointed to the 8.5km “Great Wall of Lagos” sea defense system, which has not only protected against ocean surges but also reclaimed over 1,000 hectares of land now used for residential, commercial, and recreational developments.

Dangote also praised the government’s continued work in mitigating flooding across key Lagos streets, including Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Bishop Oluwole Street, and Adetokunbo Ademola Street.

Beyond flood control, he lauded Tinubu for reviving long-standing infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway—describing the latter as the rebirth of a 48-year-old initiative. Both projects, he noted, are being executed by Hitech Construction Company Ltd., a highly regarded engineering firm.

Drawing a comparison with the Dutch province of Zeeland, Dangote highlighted how Nigeria’s land reclamation projects mirror international best practices in converting waterlogged land into productive urban and agricultural spaces.

The Dangote Group also extended condolences to victims of the recent Kerr County flooding in Texas, which claimed over 100 lives, and connected Nigeria’s climate resilience efforts with broader global challenges.

“In the Bar Beach success story, your leadership shines,” Dangote added.

Presidency’s Response
Reacting to the letter, Bayo Onanuga described it as “a sincere and insightful evaluation” of Tinubu’s governance—countering narratives from opposition critics who claim the administration has achieved little in its first two years.

Dangote’s remarks come at a time when the government is under scrutiny for economic hardship and rising inflation, offering a timely boost to the presidency’s reputation on infrastructure and environmental progress.
