Dangote Makes Major Revelation On Male Heir, Praises His Three Daughters

Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that having a son is not currently a priority for him, saying he is satisfied with the achievements of his three daughters.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the 69-year-old businessman made the disclosure during an interview aired by Arise News on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, while responding to a question about whether he still desired a male heir to carry on the family name.

Dangote explained that he believes matters concerning children are ultimately determined by God, stressing that having a son does not necessarily guarantee the continuation or success of a family legacy.

He said he does not consider having a male child a priority and expressed confidence in the abilities of his daughters, Mariya, Halima and Fatima.

The billionaire businessman maintained that there was no reason to assume a son would have achieved more than his daughters, praising the three women for their accomplishments and contributions.

His comments come amid continued discussions about the future of his business empire and how his wealth and legacy will be managed.

In July, his daughter Halima disclosed that the family had agreed to dedicate 33 per cent of Dangote’s estate to philanthropy. Dangote subsequently confirmed that an agreement had been signed to transfer one-third of his wealth to the Dangote Foundation after his death.

During the interview, Dangote also reflected on his entrepreneurial journey and offered advice to young Nigerians seeking to build successful careers and businesses.

He encouraged young people to work hard, remain consistent and focused, and have a clear understanding of what they want to achieve.

Recalling the beginning of his business career, Dangote said he started as a distributor, selling just four trucks of goods before eventually expanding into a much larger business empire.
