Davido Puts Music On Hold, Reveals Why Osun Election Became His Priority

Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has explained why he put his album promotion on the back burner to focus on the Osun State governorship election.

Davido said his decision to return to Osun State and campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, was driven by his genuine concern for the people of the state.

The singer has been actively supporting Adeleke’s re-election bid and has also engaged critics and online trolls over his political position.

Speaking at a recent campaign rally in Osun State, Davido noted that he had only recently released an album but chose to interrupt his promotional activities to return to the state.

“I just dropped my album, but I had to come down and focus on Osun State so I could see the situation myself because I genuinely care about my people,” he said.

Davido’s involvement in the election has seen him make several public appearances in support of Governor Adeleke as the campaign gathers momentum.

Davido Praises Flavour

Meanwhile, Davido has praised fellow Nigerian singer Flavour for maintaining a strong career and business presence in Nigeria rather than following the growing trend of artistes travelling to the United States in search of tours and other opportunities.

Davido made the comments during an appearance on the Afropolitan podcast while discussing Flavour’s career trajectory and financial success.

According to Davido, Flavour’s decision to remain active in Nigeria demonstrates that Nigerian artistes can build successful careers and generate substantial income without constantly relocating or travelling abroad.

He cited Flavour’s career as an example of why entertainers should not feel pressured to follow popular trends, stressing the importance of pursuing strategies that work for each individual artiste.
