According to prominent security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops recovered cash, weapons, and other logistics allegedly intended for terrorist operations from the suspect. The arrest took place on April 3 around 6:30 p.m. along the Torodi–Niamey route, as stated in the army’s operational report covering April 3–5.
A thorough search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded a firearm, several mobile phones, and 5,032,900 CFA francs, which authorities believe were meant for procuring logistics to support militant activities.
Subsequent investigations led troops to a garden in the village of Boborgou, owned by the suspect and reportedly used as a logistics base for armed groups. Recovered items included food, clothing, communication airtime, and black fabric believed to be used for camouflage.
Security forces also uncovered a large quantity of pasta stored in a nearby school, suspected to be supplies for active militants operating in the area.
The suspect is also believed to be linked to the hijacking of two vehicles on April 2 between Makalondi and Niaktiré. Military operations continue in the region as part of broader efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace.
