Defection Drama: APC Reveals What Really Happened With Gov Kefas’ Move
The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled the official welcome ceremony for Governor Agbu Kefas, announcing that the event will now hold in January.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Addressing reporters on Sunday, the state APC Chairman, Ibrahim El-Suldi, revealed that although Governor Kefas has already been registered as a member at the ward level, his formal reception has been pushed forward.
The ceremony was earlier slated for November 19, 2025, but Governor Kefas reportedly requested a postponement, arguing that celebrating a political event so soon after the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State would be inappropriate.
El-Suldi explained, “December is already overflowing with engagements. We wouldn’t want to burden the public with political activities at a time when many families are preparing for Christmas and New Year.”
He further confirmed that the governor had met all necessary membership conditions.
“The governor officially notified his ward leadership, and he has been duly received. According to our party’s records, Governor Kefas is now a full-fledged member of the APC,” he said.
He also revealed that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, along with the entire state executive council, had defected to the ruling party.
“What is happening is simply a political realignment. Key actors close to the governor have followed his lead, and more are expected to join. There is no need for concern,” he added.
El-Suldi concluded that the party’s leadership unanimously agreed on January as the most appropriate time for the event.
“We have consulted widely and agreed that January is more convenient. Once a date is finalized, we will make it public,” he assured.
