Defection Drama: Dino Melaye Officially Joins New Party In Stunning Political Twist (Video)

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a new chapter in his political journey.

Upon his defection, Melaye was immediately issued his ADC membership card, a moment he proudly shared in a video posted on his official account.

Melaye’s move comes after his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he was once the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Kogi State. In a resignation letter dated July 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State, Melaye cited a lack of leadership and vision within the PDP as his reason for leaving.

According to Melaye, the PDP has failed to demonstrate the capacity needed to resolve Nigeria’s mounting political and governance challenges. He explained that after deep personal reflection on the state of the party, he could no longer, in good conscience, associate with or support its objectives.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels. This decision has become necessary due to the party’s failure to demonstrate the competence and strength needed to rescue Nigeria from its current crisis,” the letter reads.
