In the Ometan community of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded as a result of an oil tanker accident, claiming the lives of at least eight individuals. The incident, reported by Naija News, occurred near the boundary bridge between Uvwie and Okpe LGAs on Friday.

According to reports from the DAILY POST, the catastrophe occurred when an oil tanker, traveling from Effurun, lost control while attempting to overtake another truck. Eyewitnesses described how the tanker’s front section detached from its rear compartment during the maneuver, igniting a catastrophic fire.

The fire spread rapidly, engulfing nearby buildings and causing extensive destruction in the vicinity of the accident. Unfortunately, some residents were unable to escape the blaze and tragically lost their lives.
