Delta Govt And APC Clash Over Rumored Gov Oborevwori Defection
This dispute seems to stem from speculation surrounding Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s rumored defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC.
APC has asserted that its party is “not a rehabilitation camp for failed politicians” and is uninterested in political opportunism or affiliations driven by personal gains. In response, the state government has accused APC of engaging in unproductive propaganda in a bid to survive, which they claim is the party’s current focus.
A statement issued by APC State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, criticized Governor Oborevwori’s tenure, alleging underperformance, widespread disappointment, and a lack of meaningful development in Delta State.
The statement highlighted that while APC respects an individual’s right to choose a political party, it is not concerned with the governor’s potential defection, given his alleged failure to deliver substantial results since taking office.
Additionally, APC accused Governor Oborevwori of mismanaging Delta State’s resources, despite receiving over N50 billion in federal allocations monthly, and praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s developmental strides, contrasting them with the governor’s alleged mismanagement.
