On Monday, women and youths took to the streets in Minna, the capital of Niger State, to protest the economic challenges facing the country. Subsequently, Aisha Jibrin and other protest leaders were allegedly arrested by officers of the Niger State Police command.
In response to these developments, Sowore, in a statement on his verified social media handle, called on the police to release the detained women immediately, describing their protest as a heroic act.
Sowore stated, “I have just received information that the woman who initiated the food price protest in Niger State has been arrested by the @@PoliceNG for organizing this heroic act; she and other women are to be arraigned by the Police.
