Kanu criticized the government for selectively interpreting the Supreme Court’s judgment regarding his case. He expressed disappointment that the court has not adhered to the Supreme Court’s ruling on his bail request.

He contended that a fair trial is impossible when critical provisions of the Nigerian Constitution have allegedly been violated. “I am surprised that a high court refuses to follow the Supreme Court’s determination. The cherry-picking of the judgment is what I oppose. It should be implemented in full. I am not against being tried; after all, I am innocent. They have no case against me, but a trial cannot proceed when key sections of the Constitution and significant parts of the Supreme Court’s judgment have been disregarded,” he stated.

Kanu emphasized, “This is my fourth year in solemn confinement. The fifth year won’t kill me.”
