Nigerian music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has revealed that singer Ayra Starr has had a profound impact on his life.
Don Jazzy signed Ayra Starr to Mavin Records in 2020 after gaining interest in her through her viral freestyle videos and song covers shared on Instagram.
The revelation came after an X user, @_Fabianszn, shared an old photo of Ayra Starr while praising Don Jazzy for playing a major role in the singer’s career.
The user wrote: “Don Jazzy really saved Ayra Starr; if not, she for still dey teach kindergarten children.”
Responding to the post, Don Jazzy reminisced about how he first discovered Ayra Starr through one of her Instagram freestyles. He also acknowledged the significant influence she has had on his own life.
He said: “I bless the day I was shown her Instagram freestyle o.
“She has most definitely changed my own life too. And she has been nothing but a dream Starrgirl.”
Meanwhile, Don Jazzy recently hinted that his search for a life partner could extend beyond Nigeria, with Uganda and Tanzania among the countries he mentioned.
The Mavin Records boss made the comment while engaging playfully with fans on Instagram.
A fan had described him as an “African treasure” who belongs to the entire continent rather than Nigeria alone. Don Jazzy agreed with the sentiment, noting his admiration for several African countries, including Ghana, South Africa and Uganda, despite never having visited Uganda.
He jokingly added that if he fails to find a wife in Nigeria, he might consider looking for love in Uganda or Tanzania, while noting that he had heard positive things about women from those countries.
