The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that the outcome of the 2027 general election has already been decided.

Wike made the remarks on Friday while speaking with journalists during an inspection tour in Abuja.

According to the FCT minister, political alignments ahead of the election are still evolving, with more political groups expected to join the alliance backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said, “You will see more. And that’s why I said, the election is not concluded. It’s not concluded.”

Wike also took a swipe at former presidential candidate and publisher Dele Momodu over his reported alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Commenting on Momodu’s position, Wike said, “I don’t know where Dele Momodu will be now. Every time you see him on television, he was born in Ife thinking that will make Adeleke come to your side.”

The FCT minister went on to insist that Adeleke remains aligned with his political camp and shares their loyalty to President Tinubu.

Wike’s comments came a day after Adeleke visited him in Abuja and presented his Certificate of Return to the FCT minister.

The visit followed Adeleke’s earlier meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Adeleke with his Certificate of Return on Wednesday after he emerged victorious in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. The ADC candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
