The incident, captured in a viral video, showed Emmanson repeatedly slapping a flight attendant after being asked to switch off her phone before take-off on the airline’s Uyo–Lagos route last Sunday.
According to Ibom Air, Emmanson ignored multiple instructions to power down her phone, complying only after the Pilot-in-Command made an announcement and a nearby passenger intervened. Her defiance escalated into a verbal outburst mid-flight.
Upon arrival in Lagos, she reportedly confronted the Purser who had spoken to her earlier, stepping on her, yanking off her wig, removing her glasses, throwing them to the floor, and assaulting her with footwear. She also slapped another crew member who tried to step in, and allegedly attempted to grab a fire extinguisher to damage the aircraft.
Even after airport security was alerted, Emmanson attacked Ibom Air security staff and the ground supervisor before being forcibly removed and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.
The airline has filed a report with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and confirmed she will never be allowed to board any of their flights again. Ibom Air praised its crew and security team for handling the ordeal with professionalism under intense pressure.
