Those arrested include: Gwottson Fom, Sani Abubakar, Jwe Philip Gwom, Thomas Dantong, Happiness Mathew Akawu, Cornelius Dotyok, Agbalak Ibrahim, Danjuma Azi, Fwangje Bala Ndat, Salome Tanimu Wanglet, Namba Rimuyat, Nimchak Rims, Ishaku Maren, and Paul Datugun.
Their arrest follows petitions from concerned citizens alleging violations of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, as well as abuse of procurement procedures.
According to the EFCC, investigations revealed that the lawmakers served just six months in office, during which the state government provided them with luxury vehicles valued at ₦2.5 billion. These vehicles, which were state assets, were expected to be returned after their exit from office—but the lawmakers allegedly kept them.
Efforts to recover the vehicles were unsuccessful, forcing the government to purchase a new fleet for incoming legislators, reportedly costing an additional ₦2 billion.
The EFCC made the disclosure via its official social media handle and confirmed that further investigations are ongoing.
