EDO 2024: PRAISE, PLAUDITS AND PRAYERS FOR APC ‘s MONDAY OKPEBHOLO.

Propaganda has become the trademark of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in their desperation to sell their candidate who is an antithesis of what a governor should be. From one cesspit of incoherent monologues, to legal battle, the PDP’s Guber candidate has been sweating profusely, wondering how to get a handle on this thing called politics. Senator Monday Okpebholo, Asue Ighodalo, and Olumide Akpata are the three front-runners for the coveted seat of the Governor of Edo State. As the campaigns are gathering steam, the true character of the candidates are unleashed. A single incident would define the depth of the psychoanalytical content of the candidates: It is the incident of a student’s plea for help: Mr. Ray; a student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU)Ekpoma. He is presently undergoing a kidney treatment and up till last week, needed N6m (Six Million Naira) to get the full dose of his medical prescription.

His colleagues decided to go on to the streets to solicit help from good samaritans in order to meet the needed intervention for Mr Ray, and save his life from this medical concern. They perched at the university’s main gate, just by the ever busy Auchi-Benin highway. Every now and again, they flagged down passers-by with their telling placards. All the three major candidates of the Edo 2024 election mentioned above happened to pass by, though at different times. First was Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate: he stopped to share in the plight of the students, and promised to donate N2,500,000m( Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to support the cause. The students were happy, and thanked him. Next was the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, the billionaire, as his supporters claim; whose private company has gained from spurious consultancy services to Edo State and has been paid millions. He got to the spot, waved at the students and zoomed off. He must have muffled some incoherent monologues inside his car like, “these students are always restless”; mirroring Governor Obaseki’s style that has helped to decimate the University in recent times. When the students realised that it was Asue Ighodalo that had just sped past, they started to rain curses on him.
