The CVR, which commenced on May 27 in Edo and Ondo states, initially scheduled to end on June 5, was extended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) until June 9.
The state APC Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae, voiced concerns about the fairness of the registration process, accusing the PDP of monopolizing registration centers and hindering other parties from registering their members.
Uwadiae lamented instances where individuals were reportedly asked about their party affiliation during registration, emphasizing the need for a level playing field for all parties.
On the contrary, the PDP Campaign Committee Media Deputy Director General, Olu Martin, dismissed the APC’s allegations as an attempt to undermine the credibility of INEC.
Martin expressed worry over the implications of such claims, asserting that they could erode public trust in electoral institutions and the democratic process.
He challenged the APC to provide evidence to support their accusations, highlighting the importance of encouraging voter participation irrespective of party affiliation.
The exchange of accusations between the APC and PDP underscores the tense political atmosphere surrounding the voter registration exercise in Edo State.
