The confirmation followed the consideration of the report by the committee on Rules and Government Affairs, based on a letter submitted by Governor Okpebholo last Wednesday, which included the nominee’s name.

In addition to Oshiomhole’s confirmation, the Assembly approved the 2024 revised supplementary budget totaling N486 billion. The budget approval included N485.63 billion in total expenditure, as requested by the Governor in a letter dated November 13, 2024. This supplementary budget is aimed at facilitating continued development in the state.

Before adjourning the session until Tuesday, Speaker Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku urged the Edo State Police Commissioner to take immediate action against the increasing killings and security threats in the state. The appeal came after a motion was raised by Hon. Nicholas Asonsere, representing Ikpoba-Okha Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Natasha Osawaru of the Egor Constituency. The House had previously passed resolutions on the urgent need for improved security in the state.
