The budget, which was approved by the Edo State House of Assembly, allocates N202.65 billion for recurrent expenditure and N282.99 billion for capital projects, with a clear focus on infrastructure and economic development.

At the signing ceremony on Monday, November 18, held at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo expressed his gratitude to the state lawmakers for the swift passage of the bill. He emphasized that this significant step lays the foundation for transformative governance in Edo State.

“I sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the Edo lawmakers and their quick action in passing this bill. With this kind of synergy, Edo State is on the path to unprecedented growth. We now have a united team committed to the progress of our state,” the governor said.

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Chief Blessing Agbebaku, and 23 other members of the legislature. Agbebaku reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the administration’s vision and ensuring smooth governance.

“The 8th Assembly worked diligently to pass this appropriation bill swiftly, ensuring that the new administration can begin its projects without delay. Government is a continuum, and we are dedicated to advancing development for the benefit of all Edo State residents,” Agbebaku stated.

The bill, which was first presented on November 13, 2024, underwent expedited review and approval, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative branches of government.
