The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized a recent comment attributed to the Minister for Works, Engr.

In a statement issued by the state chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the PDP expressed deep concern over the Minister’s remark, characterizing it as a form of mockery and disrespect towards individuals who have suffered losses due to the federal government’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities over the past eight years.
Aziegbemi questioned the feasibility of granting approval for state government intervention on federal projects via WhatsApp messages, especially when the Minister claimed that these projects had already been awarded to contractors.
He stated, “One is forced to ask if the contracts awarded to the contractors were done through WhatsApp messages?”
The statement further highlighted the severity of the situation, with people enduring daily suffering on these hazardous roads, leading to tragic losses of loved ones. The Minister’s attempt to trivialize the matter was condemned as highly insensitive.
The Edo State Government, led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, has repeatedly sought approval from the Federal Ministry of Works to undertake palliative measures on federal roads, but these requests have gone unanswered.
The Edo State PDP called on the Minister to refrain from theatrical gestures and focus on the vital task of improving the quality of life for Nigerians.
