Clark highlighted that during Dokubo’s trial, he organized a delegation that met with President Obasanjo. Despite the legal proceedings, Obasanjo advised them on strategic steps to take. Clark emphasized, “Asari Dokubo was facing similar charges. I gathered our leaders and we met with President Obasanjo, who informed us that he could not interfere with the court process.”

“We discussed our approach, and Obasanjo guided us on the necessary actions. Our leaders appeared in court, pushing for bail due to prolonged detention. Alabo Graham Douglas, now deceased, provided his title deed, enabling Dokubo’s release. With the President’s awareness of our efforts, the case was eventually dropped,” Clark recounted.

Clark’s comments underscore the historical context of leveraging political dialogue and legal maneuvering to advocate for the release of individuals facing similar charges, such as Nnamdi Kanu.
