During an interview with The Sun, Clark described the exchange, stating, “I once criticized him for crossing the line. I reminded him that the war he champions happened before he was born. ‘Take it easy,’ I said. ‘You have the right to protest, but avoid violence and actions detrimental to the nation.’ He responded with insults.”

Clark expressed regret that his counsel was disregarded and lamented the ensuing disrespect directed towards him. He further discussed the legal proceedings against Kanu, criticizing what he perceived as targeted legal actions under the terrorism act. Clark clarified that Kanu’s escape during a military raid at his Umuahia residence was not a bail jumping scenario but a consequence of security forces’ actions.

Concluding his remarks, Clark appealed to the federal government, including writing an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, urging the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
