Olukoyede highlighted the unwavering political determination of President Bola Tinubu to confront economic and financial crimes, ensuring that no one enjoys immunity from prosecution for corrupt practices. He emphasized that President Tinubu has set the stage for a conducive environment for anti-graft activities, extending to both the EFCC and ICPC, making it clear that no Nigerian is exempt from investigation for corruption allegations.

“We believe that with the kind of President we have, who is ready and willing to do the right thing and from what we have seen in recent times and in the last 48 hours, it is clear that he has provided the political will and leadership and created the atmosphere for us to work. So, there is no hiding place for the corrupt,” Olukoyede stated.

He underscored the collaborative efforts between the EFCC and ICPC, emphasizing the significance of their partnership in combating corruption. Olukoyede mentioned the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the agencies, describing it as a dynamic document that can be reviewed periodically to accommodate mutual interests.

Addressing concerns about potential duplication of responsibilities between the two agencies, Olukoyede dismissed such notions, citing the vastness of the challenges they face. He pointed out that the collective staff strength and resources of both organizations pale in comparison to a single anti-corruption agency in the United States, emphasizing the need for collaboration to effectively address the monumental task at hand.

Dr. Musa Aliyu, in his opening remarks, echoed the importance of collaboration and understanding between the ICPC and EFCC. He expressed readiness to work closely with the EFCC, citing an existing MoU and the need to strengthen their relationship for more effective anti-corruption efforts.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation and synergy between the EFCC and ICPC in the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.
