Ogungbade clarified, “We do not have a lawsuit against the EFCC. We have never filed any action questioning its constitutionality.” He emphasized that the state had already issued a statement last week, confirming that it is not involved in any legal challenge against the EFCC.
While respecting the rights of other states to pursue legal action, he noted that the documents filed by Ogun State are publicly accessible. He expressed surprise at the continued misrepresentation in the media, urging outlets to correct their reporting based on the clarifications provided.
The Ogun State government had previously issued a statement from the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, which reiterated that the Supreme Court had already addressed the constitutionality of the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, deeming the matter closed for Ogun State.
