Eight Lives Lost In Resurgence Of Cult Violence In Edo State....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A renewed cult conflict in parts of Benin City, Edo State, particularly around Upper Sokponba Road, has reportedly resulted in at least eight deaths. Some sources suggest that the death toll may be as high as twenty over the past three days since the violence erupted.

The latest clashes appear to be between the Supreme Eiye Confraternity (SEC) and the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Although the exact cause of the conflict remains unclear, it was reported that tensions escalated during a failed meeting at Tipper Garage in the Idogbo area, where leaders from both groups attempted to mediate the situation.

Further reports indicate that members of the Eiye group attacked their Viking counterparts, injuring several individuals with knives, although no fatalities occurred at that time. In retaliation, the Vikings returned in greater numbers, killing a high-ranking Eiye member. This retaliation continued, resulting in the death of another Eiye member known as “Oil Man,” followed by an attack on another individual just two houses away, prompting the Eiye group to initiate further retaliatory actions.

According to a source, one Viking member was brutally stabbed but survived and is currently hospitalized. The situation is complicated by the unwillingness of both groups to accept apologies, which has perpetuated the cycle of violence.

In response to the ongoing bloodshed, the Benin United Forum (BUF) has urged the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, to invoke curses on those involved in these cult-related killings, similar to the measures taken against human trafficking in the kingdom
