The Social Media Critic, Reno Omokri praised President Buhari for the first time in eight years due to no record of a domestic plane crash in his two tenures.
In his words, he said:
“No matter how much I am disappointed in Muhammadu Buhari, one thing I can still praise him for is that in the eight years that he misgoverned Nigeria, we did not experience even one commercial aircraft crash. It may not look like such a big thing in the grand scheme. But it is big enough to earn my commendation.”
Unfortunately, there have been several plane crashes in Nigeria over the years. Here is a list of some of the major incidents:
- July 11, 1991: Nigerian Airways Flight 2120 crashes shortly after takeoff from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, killing all 261 people on board. The plane was en route to Sokoto, Nigeria.
- November 13, 1995: A Nigerian-owned Boeing 727 operated by Nigeria Airways crashes in the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria, killing all 153 people on board. The plane was en route from Abuja, Nigeria to Lagos.
- October 22, 2005: A Nigerian Bellview Airlines Boeing 737 crashes shortly after takeoff from Lagos, killing all 117 people on board. The plane was en route to Abuja, Nigeria.
