Operatives from the CP-Special Assignment team of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended several suspected kidnappers within the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

One of the suspects was caught in possession of an AK-47 rifle, along with guns and 13 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. The arrest was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in a press statement released to journalists in Warri on Tuesday.

According to the statement, on March 26, 2025, the operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson, pursued the suspected kidnappers, extending their investigation to Rivers State.

During the operation, the team tracked down a fleeing suspect identified as Chedeye Mohammed and successfully apprehended him. Upon questioning, the suspect led officers to a bush behind a trailer park in Rivers State, where they had concealed their weapons.

An AK-47 rifle loaded with 13 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from the location.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his accomplices were involved in kidnapping operations in Ughelli, Agbarho, and other areas of Delta State, using Rivers State as their hideout. The police are actively pursuing the remaining gang members.

In a separate incident, acting on credible intelligence, the operatives apprehended suspected armed robbers and gun runners, recovering an AK-47 rifle, an automatic pump-action gun, a Baretta pistol, and ammunition.

The sting operation, carried out in Anyigba town, Kogi State, led to the arrest of three suspects: Zakari Mohammed (31) from Olugbujo community, Ibrahim Mumuni (29) from Anyangba town, and Mohammed Hamisu (25) from Anyigba town—all residents of the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
