Enough Excuses! Gov Diri Challenges PDP To Fix Its Own Problems

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to prioritize resolving its internal challenges instead of constantly blaming the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if it wants to be a strong opposition.

Speaking after the inauguration of the PDP South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, Diri acknowledged the temptation to criticize the ruling party but stressed that true opposition strength lies in addressing internal weaknesses.

He emphasized the need for PDP to be proactive, urging party members to focus on internal reforms before engaging in external criticism. He noted that as Nigeria’s oldest political party, PDP must avoid shifting blame and instead work towards unity and competitiveness.

Diri described the inauguration of the caretaker committee as a positive step and highlighted the commitment of PDP’s South-South zone to remaining united, with four out of six governors in the region belonging to the party. He expressed optimism that by prioritizing internal reforms, PDP would regain its footing and effectively compete with other political parties.
