Speaking during a Senate plenary in Abuja, Maidoki emphasized the need for a consistent and decisive approach, warning against oscillating between negotiation and military action.

“We know who these bandits are, where they operate, and what they want,” he said on the Senate floor. He questioned why, despite this knowledge, no decisive measures have been taken to neutralize the criminal networks terrorizing communities.

Maidoki’s remarks follow recent high-profile abductions that have reignited national concern. Notably, 38 members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State were kidnapped by bandits, though they were later released. In a separate incident, over 200 students were abducted from a Catholic private school in Niger State, with 50 reportedly escaping and reuniting with their families.
