Speaking on the virtual “South East Political Roundtable,” Kalu emphasized the need for South East youth to cease the observance of sit-at-home, citing its negative impact on potential investors interested in contributing to the region’s development. The sit-at-home protests have been triggered by Nnamdi Kanu’s prolonged detention, leading to disruptions in the South East region.

Kalu, addressing the gains of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P) in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, urged those with weapons to adopt non-kinetic approaches advocated by the initiative to address security challenges and various agitations.

Encouraging support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, Kalu stressed that the President is keen on the South East’s development. He urged a shift away from violence, emphasizing the importance of peace in achieving objectives. Kalu assured that detailed strategies are being employed behind the scenes, focusing on peaceful resolutions rather than coercive measures.

Acknowledging the achievements of individuals from the South East in various government positions, Kalu urged the South East to embrace a new era of unity and progress. He emphasized the potential for economic growth and development through collaborative efforts.

Appreciating the support of the governors of the five Eastern states for the PISE-P initiative, Kalu clarified that the project was not politically driven but centered on community service. He dismissed any perceived clash of interest between PISE-P and Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, stating that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, is fully supportive of the peace project.
