Fatal Hit-And-Run: Osun State Polytechnic Student Victim Of Reckless Driver On One-Way Road
A tragic incident occurred on Monday, April 15, claiming the life of a student from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. The student, identified as Olanrewaju Olatona, lost his life in a collision involving a trailer driver along the Ikirun-Osogbo road area of Osun State.
Reports indicate that the accident took place when the driver, allegedly traveling against the flow of traffic, crashed into the motorcycle carrying Olatona and another passenger. Olatona, a National Diploma 2 student and the Financial Secretary of the Department of Mass Communication, sustained fatal injuries due to the impact and tragically passed away at the scene. He had been preparing for the one-year Industrial Training program at the time.
Following the accident, the driver fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended by authorities. In response to this devastating loss, students of Osun State Polytechnic organized a procession in front of the school gate, blocking the expressway for several hours as they mourned the untimely death of their fellow student.
