During plenary, Akpabio disclosed that funds had been transferred to senators’ accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal, to “enjoy” their holidays.

However, realizing the situation – that he was speaking before reporters on live television – Akpabio promptly retracted his statement and mentioned that prayers had been sent to their mailboxes for a safe journey.

The public response to this event has been quite active, with various reactions surfacing.

In her response, Kingibe humorously shared her perspective, stating that she didn’t receive any additional allowances or “prayers.” She indicated that the funds mentioned might have been part of the regular statutory allowances senators are entitled to. She emphasized that she hadn’t noticed any unusual disbursements.

Despite being relatively new to her role, Kingibe expressed her intention to channel the funds into projects that benefit her constituents.
