In light of this, the tribunal directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Honourable Hafizu Ibrahim Kawu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the rightful victor of the election.
The tribunal further ordered that a Certificate of Return be promptly issued to Kawu.
In the earlier general elections, Garba Galadanchi, the returning officer for Tarauni Federal Constituency, had announced Yarima of the NNPP as the winner of the Tarauni parliamentary election, securing 26,273 votes and surpassing Kawu of the APC, who garnered 15,931 votes.
However, Hafizu Ibrahim Kawu, a former member seeking re-election in the 2023 polls, contested Yarima’s victory through the tribunal.
Kawu based his challenge on the grounds of Yarima’s alleged forged certificate and instances of irregularities, including over-voting and non-compliance with electoral regulations.
