These directors, who have disregarded the federal government’s instructions, have each served between nine and 12 years in the directorate cadre.

They were required to submit their retirement letters in accordance with the Public Service Rules (PSR), which came into effect on July 27, 2023.

A memo from the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, dated July 27, had been sent to all relevant authorities, instructing strict compliance with the revised rules.

According to reports, some of the officials affected by the rule include Bashir Muhammad, Director of Human Resource Management, and Dabara Vingo, his counterpart at the Christian Pilgrimage Board.

Despite the operational directive being in effect for nearly a month, these officials have not vacated their positions.

Muhammad, in particular, recently requested a three-month extension to his tenure from FCTA Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola.

However, this extension request has not yet been granted, and it is anticipated that Nyesom Wike, the new FCT minister, might intervene in the matter.

An FCTA official expressed concern over the officials’ non-compliance, highlighting the refusal of those affected to follow the revised rules. The official remains hopeful that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike will promptly address the issue.

On the other hand, FCTA Director of Press, Muhammed Sule, clarified that circulars had been issued directing the concerned officials to retire.

A source from the Federal Ministry of Health confirmed that all the directors affected by the tenure policy have retired as stipulated by the Head of Service.

The source mentioned that several directors, including Dr. Morenike Alex-Okoh and Dr. Boladale Alonge, have already retired in accordance with the directive.
