Acknowledging achievements in infrastructure and culture, President Tinubu commended the university’s efforts and expressed confidence in the graduating students’ global competitiveness, thanks to the quality of teaching and research. He applauded three distinguished professionals honored with degrees for their contributions to national development.
Highlighting ongoing dialogues with stakeholders, the president acknowledged the necessity of making tough decisions for economic growth. Notably, he defended the removal of the fuel subsidy, citing unsustainable costs. He emphasized the redirection of funds towards public infrastructure, education, and social needs to enhance citizens’ lives.
Addressing economic challenges, President Tinubu assured that the nation would overcome difficulties soon. To ease the impact of the subsidy removal, his administration enacted the student loan bill, providing interest-free loans to underprivileged students in government-owned institutions. Borrowers are expected to repay after starting work, two years post-national service.
In concluding his address, President Tinubu underscored the commitment to ensuring no Nigerian child misses out on education due to poverty, aligning with the administration’s policy.
