In a statement shared on social media, NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office reported that the returnees arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday, with the repatriation facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

According to NEMA, the group of returnees included 120 adult males, 9 adult females, 10 male children, 7 female children, and 2 infants.

The statement further noted that the returnees landed at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport Cargo Terminal around 2:15 PM on Skymali flight ER-CTZ. Due to heavy rain, there was a slight delay in disembarking the passengers, but once the weather cleared, officials from the Nigerian Immigration Service arrived, and buses were provided to transport the returnees to the biometric registration centre for documentation.

Other stakeholders, including representatives from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), IOM, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), were also present to assist with the repatriation process.
