PDP Responds to Allegations Against Sule Lamido by Wike and Northern Youths Movement
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has strongly reacted to allegations made against former Jigawa State Governor and PDP founding member, Sule Lamido, by the Northern Youths Movement (NYM). The accusations were linked to an article that criticized Lamido for allegedly being part of a rebellion against the PDP in 2014, with claims that the article was backed by Minister Nyesom Wike.
The article has sparked outrage among PDP supporters in Jigawa and nationwide, leading to a robust rebuttal from party leaders. In response, Muhammad Mago, a prominent leader of the Jigawa PDP, condemned the allegations as a deliberate misrepresentation aimed at tarnishing Lamido’s reputation.
Mago accused Wike of orchestrating the smear campaign to create divisions within the PDP, describing the accusations as “malicious” and labeling Wike’s actions as an example of “Draconian politics” and a betrayal of the PDP.
Mago pointed out that Wike’s acceptance of a ministerial role under the ruling APC was a clear departure from his former allegiance to the PDP. He emphasized that Lamido, a dedicated party stalwart and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, remains highly respected for his contributions to the PDP and the country, having served as Jigawa’s governor from 2007 to 2015. Lamido, Mago said, continues to focus on national unity and will not be drawn into Wike’s alleged provocations.
