This affirmation comes in the wake of the recent appointment of new directors for agencies under the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, as reported by The PUNCH on December 22, 2023. Keyamo urged the newly appointed directors to promptly collect their letters of appointment from the Director of Human Resources at the ministry, emphasizing the immediacy of the appointments.
Additionally, a new directorate named the Cargo Services has been established at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria to address challenges facing the sector, as disclosed in a release signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Odutayo Oluseyi.
Despite these changes, Minister Keyamo reiterated on Tuesday the government’s determination to ensure strict adherence to aerospace standards within the country. The statement emphasized the minister’s commitment to reinforcing the industry’s global standing by strictly adhering to the minimal standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Keyamo highlighted the government’s role as a facilitator, working collaboratively with airlines, service providers, and other stakeholders to create an environment conducive to growth and sustainability. He pledged to uphold non-interference in safety standards and expressed support for the decisions of aviation regulatory bodies, emphasizing safety as a top priority.
The statement concluded with an optimistic outlook for the future, envisioning a shared journey defined by safety, innovation, and collaboration within the aviation industry.
