Food Price Update: What A Bag Of Rice, Beans, And Other Staples Will Cost You This Week

This year has seen a sharp increase in the cost of staple foods due to inflation, insecurity, and disruptions in supply chains, making it harder for families to afford basic necessities.
Key food items like rice, vegetables, meat, and cooking oil have experienced significant price hikes. A 50kg bag of rice now costs between ₦90,000 and ₦100,000, compared to about ₦55,000 last year. Similarly, the price of a bottle of palm oil has doubled, while a kilogram of chicken now sells for over ₦5,500.
