Njoku, who previously represented the Osisioma Ngwa North State Constituency in the 7th Assembly, stepped down as Speaker following a compromise within the PDP to allow Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, son of Abia’s former governor, to take over the position.
Speaking at his country home in Mbutu Nta village, Osisioma Local Government Area, Njoku revealed that his decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with his constituents and stakeholders across the state.
“I am grateful to the PDP for the opportunities they provided me and wish them well in their future endeavors,” Njoku stated.
He encouraged his supporters to join him in the APC, assuring them of better opportunities for those willing to work diligently. Using an Igbo proverb, he said, “Onye ruo, ya erie” (He who works, eats), highlighting his belief in merit-based rewards within his new political party.
Njoku’s defection received support from prominent stakeholders, including Comr. Odimegwu Aruru, Chief of Staff to the Bishop Campaign Organization; Comr. Emmanuel Nduagu, former President of the Osisioma Ngwa Youth Congress; and Hon. Austin Uruakpa, former leader of the Osisioma Ngwa Legislative Council.
These stakeholders urged Njoku’s supporters to register as APC members in their respective wards, emphasizing that the move signified a new chapter for the people.
The former lawmaker assured his supporters that his decision to join the APC was driven by a vision to secure a brighter future for Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area and Abia State.
Comr. Oliver Christian, a youth leader from Isiala Osokwa Ward 6, praised Njoku’s courageous move, expressing full support on behalf of the youth.
